Starting September -- Second Saturday Cycling, Starting from Big Mac

Staring Saturday 13 September 2014, I'm hosting a cycling ride for everyone. Here are the specifics:

  1. Second Saturday every month, rain or shine or snow, holiday or not.
  2. Meet at MacArthur High School (Big Mac) front parking lot.
  3. Ride 10 miles or so. I'll post the route the night before. We'll almost always hit Keith Weiss Park, for sure.
  4. Open to everyone, but if someone comes under age 16, I want him to be with someone over 18 for contact purposes, etc. Anyone -- gender, nationality, ethnicity, ability, age -- is welcome and encouraged. Make friends, take pictures, burn a few calories.
  5. We'll stop half-way at a local business for aguas frescas or tacos or whatever, then return to Big Mac.
  6. Twitter, Instragram, other hashtag is #aldinecycle

Rules

  1. Helmets required. You can purchase inexpensive helmets at Academy Sports (a Texas company).
  2. Water required. Please reduce, reuse, recycle. We'll also stop to refill.
  3. This is not a race. Everyone starts, everyone finishes. It will be a comfortable pace and no one will be left behind.
  4. Bring an extra tube or patch kit.
  5. Wear white top because (as my 1302 civically engaged friends know) Aldine has no bike lanes.
So get your bike in order -- fix it, get the tubes patched, clean the gears and chains, maybe a old t-shirt on that old saddle. Straighten the bars. If needed, we'll have a clinic the week before to get bikes in shape. Spread the word.

NOTE

This is not sponsored by LSC-NH, LSCS, SCE, or anything else. Just friends cycling and enjoying the roads.
